Hhhhhuuueeeggghhhyyy! You have caused crush damage and severe bruising to the soft tissue in the thumb which hasn't healed properly for some reason or other.....Without a good look at it (not that I'd want to by the sound of it) it's hard to say much more....I do hope you have gone to A&E by now?
Goddamn, Dude..!! Hasn't the pain been giving you a clue you've got a bad problem..? Was there much bleeding..? Get to A&E right away like sft says, before you either lose your thumb altogether, or gangrene loses you your whole hand.. No kidding..!! Personally, I'd want a bravery award too, for not going sooner..!!
Ohhhh yuck!! Same as the others I do hope you've had some antibiotics you can't just leave this one to heal on it's own, & you certainly don't want blood poisoning. (Just off to get this lump on my head seen to - the one I got when I fainted & fell off my chair).

losing a nail after a knock injury is common, and it always looks mank. it will regrow, bu the first nail that grows back will look well dodgy, and settle down overtime. Check to make sure there is no infection (inflamation, pus etc.) and try to keep it dry to avoid fungi.
