Hospital :(

Ive got to go to Hospital on Monday for a Colposcopy (whatever that is) am really scared, hate hospitals, and cant stop crying.......has anyone had one?

I've had one! Don't be scared, slightly more uncomfortable than a smear test and over really quickly. Honestly nothing to upset yourself about.

Don't worry Black Noir, it's always the unknown that is scary, but I've had one done and as Horselady says bit more uncomfortable than a smear but the nurses were very understanding. Good luck! :0)

whatever you think and of heard of hospitals.....always remember one thing......they are one your side....

same with dentists...they only do their jobs to help you

i do like the treat yourself after post tho....thats my kind of advice !!

Yes Black me! It is daunting but you will be surprised it isn't really so bad. You will have a nurse to hold your hand and can even watch on camera!!
I think , as the word has an 'opy' at the end it sounds a bit operation- like but it isn't .
Things may nip a little in the cervix as they have to take a little piece out to look at under the microscope (though I don't think they always do this.)
The only real ****** is that you will have to have annual smears for 5 years or so.

Oh, and even if it is a negative result, you can rest assured they have caught any problems quickly and they will be able to treat them effectively straight away.

I had to stay and have a biopsy and surgery (which was grim to say the least) should get the results in 2 weeks.

I espiecially liked the way these doctors and nurses sit staring at your downstairs region chatting merrily about were I am going on holiday etc!

Yes I agree , when you are not in your best presentable position the last thing you want is someone needlessly looking there when your innards are in full view on at least 3 screens round the room !!!
