Bad posture or tension can cause muscular pain in this area but tends to a be a 'burning' ache rather a sharp pain usually worse later in the day e.g. after sitting at a PC all day. You may have damaged ('pulled') the muscle whilst stretching or exercising but probably best to get it checked out by your GP if it persists since pain here can indicate other problems.
do you play rugby/hockey/football/bridge or other violent sport? because it sounds like you may have cracked a rib. you can do this by coughng too.
