My Gosh...

What has fashion, modelling and celebrity status done to the teenagers of today?
I'm a normal weight, 16 year old 5ft4 girl.
And I can't quite believe it when I stumble onto a pro-ana conspiracy on myspace.com
It makes me sick to think that these poor teens are starving themselves to be stick thin and are not even happy even though every single bone in their body is showing.
And for what? To look like the models in the fashion magazines. When they have had the photos edited beyond belief.
What are your opinions on this?
thanks

What worries me is the long term damage to health and fertility that many eating disorders can bring. I am glad that you can see the horror of the situation. More pressure needs to be put on the Media to stop encouraging Stick thin bodies. Two good examples today are Sophie Ellis Bexter who used to be lovely and curvy, never "fat" but now looks skeletal and ill and Charlotte Church who has gorgeous curves. Makes you wonder whats going on in the world. I will be interested to follow this link and see what others feel.
I think that some pro-ana sites provide support for girls who might else just go and kill themselves. Obviously its not healthy but anorexia has been around for years, its a mental health condition and was around way before celeb mags and size zero models (which by the way is actually a size 8 by 80s cloth sizing)etc..Silversky, lots of these girls think the models are fat, they are not their thinspiration. Other anorexics are. The media could help by not publicising every pound posh puts on. Some people are naturally skinny and get an awful lot of meaness projected towards them.
I quite fancy Sophie Ellis Bextor. Kate Moss is nice too when she's been off the blow for a week or two. I also think that fat birds could do a lot to improve their situation, it's called the not eating everything in sight and getting some exercise diet. There's no excuse for becoming a heffalump, all you need to do is eat healthily and exercise, that means not eating junk and sitting on your arse all day.
I never said anything about it being a criminal offence but I think fat people who moan about being fat and not being able to diet are talking b0llocks. It's not hard to stop eating so much and start exercising, even if they just start off by taking the batteries out of the remote, at least it's a start, next thing you know they'll be able to go to the toilet without having to have a rest half way. Same can be said for anorexics I might add, all they need to do is eat some tastey nutritious food. The solutions to their problems are simple but it takes them to get their arses in gear to do something about it. They should direct their energies away from talking and into action, you don't see many men sitting on their arses moaning about their weight, I wonder why that is?
Usually the fashion magazines will list out the brand that the celebrities wear. You can note down the brand's name and check it out in the big shopping department.
Try to ask the jeans department's manager, even though they do not sell them in their store because they usually hold a list of all other stores that sell certain brand of jeans.
i tried that before, it worked.http://www.fashionpaparazzis.com
