Is it true that coffee can increase your stress levels?

I drink about 3-4 cups every morning when at work. I am a very laid back individual so need something to give me that 'edge'. Is coffee the way to go?

Oooh... those red bull drinks (or equivalent) send me a bit mental. I talk super-fast and get the jitters. I wouldn't be able to sleep for a week!

I was thinking about something that made me less chilled out but which wouldn't have a detremental effect on my working abilities. Plus I can't be smelling of vodka in the office, Octavius, but nice try.

freshly peeled oranges.the juice that sprays off of the orange as you peel it is supposed to be as refreshing as n energy drink like redbull but not as bad for you as it doesnt contain all the caffeine.
If you need a bit of an oomph in the morning, then ave a banana.
You could try cutting out caffeine altogether. It's probably because you drink coffee that you need it to perk you up in the morning.
Once you come off it, you'll find you are naturally more alert. Of course as with any drug there's a withdrawal period where you'll feel like cr&p, but it's worth sticking with it.
I've been caffeine free for about 3 years.
Water can be the best pick up. Goes straight to your brain and helps all your brain-connection thingies. Soz for the explanation but if the Dr can say timey-wimey...
