Please can anyone advise me on how to stop a mouth ulcer inside my bottom lip from bleeding ? I woke up early today with my pillow bloody and it still hasn't stopped yet . I am on Clopidogrel, which is a blood thinner , following a minor stroke . Guess that means a trip to the shop for a new pillow later too !

Morning Big mamma, that sounds very unpleasant, and I think with the Clopidogrel you are caught in a catch 22 situation and I really can't think of anything to help.

Hope it stops bleeding soon.

Horrible painful things aren't they? Try rinsing your mouth with tepid water with salt dissolved in it (about 1 teaspoon per pint). Don't swallow it!

You could use a styptic pencil - but it won't taste too good !

the best thing for ulcers which I use all the time is Oralbase, only available from the pharmacist, but it puts like a seal over the ulcer, thus stops it bleeding and stops it hurting and best of all, heals it really fast, like overnight for small ones. It is a steroid cream so be sure to tell the pharmacist what other meds you are on, just in case there is a problem....

Its a small stick that you can buy at the chemists - men use them when they have cut themselves shaving. Very effective in stopping bleeding but just can't imagine they taste very nice !

At last it has stopped for the last hour . I actually went to the Gp with this huge ulcer last week as I had had it for 3 weeks and I was given Adcortyl in Orabase .It was healing nicely until in the night .
