Since owning a digital camera I have noticed several photos with the odd ball of misty light of various sizes on them, a friend said they were spiritual orbs, I have to admit I wanted to laugh. Since taking some photos in a notorious haunted public house I have had lots of interest in some of the shots of these orbs from a ghost society. Are they all mad or is there an element of truth in their assumptions of ghostly goings on? (I suppose it helps if you believe in that sort of stuff).

might just be the way sunlight on your lens gets picked up by the sensors; happens to me occasionally even when I thought I wasn't shooting into the sun.

J If you check out some of the ghostly sights on the internet, many of them have photos of orbs which are supposed to be manifestation of spirits. Sometimes you may capture more than orbs, some have shapes, faces etc. in them. Best thing is to let the society have a look at them and they will know whether it is the camera or not as they see these sort of things all the time. It is a fascinating subject and one that cannot be completely dismissed!

Probably lens flare on an uncoated lens, or maybe you just need to clean the lens?

These orbs have been seen so many times and covered on various television programs, they are just light reflecting off of dust particles, if i remember correctly.

Yeah I agree with cascarelli it's most probably lens flare, this can be either from the sun or normal household bulb.

My office is in a V old cottage where a man died & we took photos & had lots of orbs. Big solid looking ones. We also get strong smells like amonia (no comment!!) & cold spots.

Why would the orbs only appear on a digital camera and not a standard one? Surely if they want to get in on the kodak action they'd appear regardless of the camera type... unless they're snobby orbs of course, I hate them....

Anyway... sounds like you need to check your camera over to me.

But then it could be us cynics that are mad and only the society that knows the truth.... which sounds like a synopsis of a Dan Brown nove.
