New flip-flops...

I am truly baffled. I bought a new pair of flip-flops and the toe piece that sits in between your big toe and 2nd toe has a plastic tube piece covering it, does one remove this plastic bit or leave it in place?

Remove it it is for trying on in shop.

I would leave it there, it will help to keep the wretched flip-flop attached to your foot.

I got some mules �2-99 from Tesco, and they keep falling off especially going up or down stairs. You end up walking about with a sort of forward stomping gait and there is increased wear on the carpets.

As pussnboots says , its a hygiene piece for trying on and usually you remove it when you buy. :-)

Can I just ask you ladies, if any man can walk in them properly, when we were on holiday last year i bought a pair to walk arond the poolside, but do you think i could lift my feet off the floor, could i *******, i had to flip along without the flop and felt a failure, am I alone in this ? :-(

Id leave them there if there not too visible - they will protect your toe from rubbing in between...(if that makes sense ;)

no your not alone - i cant walk in the damn things! Whenever i see people strutting past in them i stare in amazement - i have to sort of shuffle along with my ties curled up to hold them on...I just dont GET them!! And as for stairs....

I've always had flip-flops in summer, from a really early age. Probably because we lived by the sea and they're great for the beach etc. BUT, this year mr nutgone has got his first pair because I got a pair each for the boys too (getting them at an early age too!) and he didn't want to be left out. So there's me, confidently slopping around in mine, my 3 year old beside me, a little surfer dude, shuffling a tiny bit but loving his, then there's hubby and 6 year old behind, having all KINDS of trouble with theirs.

Ray, nannon, you're not alone!! Maybe you have to be born with the right flippy AND floppiness already built in to your feet??? xx

nannon - you may need to look carefully at your parents' feet to see if they have flippiness and floppiness. If they don't, then there's your explanation - it's all in the genes!!

Flip flops are just about the only footwear in India - when I was there on holiday, the only memorable sound was the noise of thousands of pairs of flip flops, flipping and flopping all over the place! a strange memory to have of a country, but there you are! I can't wear flip flops either, but that's because of the bit between your toes, my feet are too tickly to bear that. I can walk in mules or birkenstocks.

Flip Flops are a pain, they must be the most uncomfortable things ever invented, the bit between your toes is torture.

lol, I thought they were meant to be there too, to stop that piece annoying your toes! Well the piece on mine is seethrough soft plastic so I am just gonna leave mine on as otherwise I don't think I could walk in them.

Dasco do a product now that is like the gel party feet but with a soft gel toe post on top, you can buy them in all good footwear accessory retailers, and they mean anyone can cope with toe posts.
