Diana concert?

Why is it that i can still get a tear in my eye when i see pics of Diana?

Even after 10 years i still find her death very sad! The opening of the concert is very moving with her picture on the stage, the way everyone stood up, clapped and started taking pics. Who else feels this way or is it just me? Im sure it isnt!

I thought it was sad at the time, and I felt awful for her sons. But I have moved on...

No, I don't get a tear in my eye. However I do get upset when I am reminded of 9/11 and things like the Aberfan disaster. I guess it is all a personal persuasion..

Doc, I have thought about the boys and Charles recently. I imagine that there has been some horrendous family arguments about the whole affair, but when in the public eye they behave as Royals do (for family purposes anyway). They look to be getting on like a house on fire.

All those things get me though Pippa, not just her. I am a very emotional person though so that must explain it! I have moved on but things like this put a lump in my throat!

I think it's because she was so beautiful and innocent when she was married into the mob imho.
Her personal pain we shall never truly know, only imagine...
but once she got her freedom? boy was she having fun!!!

The royals have said in the past that we should let her rest in peace and yet organise a wembley concert in her memory... Hypocritical or what?

its good to see her 2 sons enjoying themselves though...they didnt ask for their mother to die in the tragic way she did....................

You must remember, surely, that to the media and most of the public she was considered the ***** of the world before she died, yet is elevated to sainthood in death. Fickle bunch.

I admired this lady for all the good she did ! Simple as that. I don't wail for her or anything of the sort but i just found the start of this concert fairly moving! The fact that her sons have organised it in her memory is very touching. Sometimesi do feel sad that she is no longer here!

snug, Im afraid her death will always be raked over by the press, she was the most famous woman in the world, its always going to happen! My post was about this concert which was organised by her sons so i don't see the relevance of your answer really! sorry

Hi julie, I felt very emotional today about the whole thing.In the Sunday Express supplement today, there was obviously, a huge section dedicated to her. And there were some lovely photos of when she first met Charles, how sweet and lovely she looked. And how much she changed later on.

I didn't see all the concert, but what I saw, I enjoyed. It was great people getting together having a really good time to celebrate what would of been her 46th birthday.

So its not just you! xx

I liked Diana and I thought the concert put on by Wills and Harry was a wonderful tribute to their mother. Ok she was'nt a saint,who is? She was left alone and lonely and needed love which she certainly was'nt getting from Charles. Thousands still pay tribute to Elvis and Marylin Monroe so why not Diana? She was a kind young lady and a good mother who taught her sons there's more to life than the stiff upper lip which has been the way of the royals for years and what about them having affairs? Nothing new.

Try think back Julie - it even got to the stage where shows like 'Have I Got News For You' on the BBC had voiceover fun. I remember one particular scene where they were asked about a clip where she was being introduced to the England rugby team. With every handshake came the voiceover (as if it were her) "had you, had you, had you".
She was pilloried for months by the press and tv because of her relationships, and that's a fact.

I feel the same way and I think it's just probably the way her life ended and now when I see what her sons are doing in her memory it just makes me emotional. She did some wonderful things in her short lifetime and now it's nice to see her son's trying to carry on for her. She would be very proud.

whickerman, thats the press and the media in general, i said the public didnt feel that way and i think that is blatently obvious!! The press will always ridicule anyone in the public eye!

and that clip on have i got news for you was very funny, i remember it well, but a bit of light hearted fun like that doesnt mean that the country thought she was a *****! Entirely different!
