Dont you just hate the times when you are completely useless and theres little you can do? Just received a call from my mum and she is crying her eyes out, she cant get hold off my stepdad and he is very late home from work. He always contacts her to say if he will be late home and when phoning it is going straight to answer phone. Ive tried calling and my partner has sent him a txt with a delivery report, so if he has no reception, when he does the report will come through. Its just the thought of my mum at home on her own worrying herself silly & crying her eyes out & I cant be there. I dont know what to do! :(
Hi wiggal
Its always really horrible to hear your parents upset as they're the ones that usually do the comforting. You sound like a nice caring offspring to your mum. Perhaps your stepdad's mobile has run out of battery and he didn't realise until he got on the road and there is a traffic jam. Or perhaps he is in an area where there is no reception. It always seems to be the way with me that the day I get held up for whatever reason I go to use my phone and the battery goes, it's really annoying. Has your mum tried phoning your stepdad's work landline or any of his co-workers?
My stepdad is an engineer and travels all round the country everday to different places so he doesnt have a land line or any one else who would know where he is.
I said about him not having any reception, but hes never had that problem before so she cant see why it would happen, also she is more worried as he tends to drive fast and she said to me about that on the phone.
I said i would phone her in a bit but i dont want to because if the phone goes she will think its him and i dont want to do that to her. i just feel so useless sitting here, i dont know what more i can do.
Hi wiggal, sorry to hear about that, it is a worry, all you can do is keep in touch with her and try to keep her mind off of it till he gets home, has she got a real close friend that lives near her that you could ring ? or a neighbour she gets on with well, I am sure it will be something simple as to why he is not home yet, but it doesn't stop you worrying does it, hope all is ok, Ray
Hi wiggal
God, your Mum must be in an awful state as well as yourself.
There is probably a reasonable explanation for him being so late home.
Do you know where in the country he is working today. You could always call the Police or the A&E in the area that he is working in.
I am sure he will be okay, just sit tight if you do not want to call the Police or A&E.
I have been in that position when My Son was a bit younger. It is very worrying.
Hope you hear something soon.
Keep us posted. Chin up!
She doesnt really know any one in the town she lives in, I have thought about phoning my sister, well have just tried but shes not in, she lives alot further away then i do, just i want to phone her but dont know what to say.
I had this months ago with my partner, and i phoned my mum, and my mum and stepdad were straight on the phone to the police to see if there had been any accidents on his route home, but i cant even do that because he could be anywhere in england.
Hi wiggal
At least you are now managing to do something positive. I do hope you hear something soon and that the news is good.
The Police will track him down in no time.
Keep positive.
Oooook people!
My partner has managed to get through to him, he was stuck in Ipswich and had left a mesage on her work answer machine which she hadnt got as she wasnt there at the time, he has been stuck with no reception and couldnt contact her.
Even when i spoke to my mum after she had spoken to him she couldnt stop crying, said she has never been so worried or scared in her life.
Thanks everyone, ive just never heard my mum in that way before and just didnt know what to do.
xx
Hi wiggal
So glad that your Mum has heard from your dad.
Why just have one cig and one drink. Have a few, kick back and relax.
So glad to hear the news was good.!!
Doc Spock i came on here, well because there was nothing more i could do, i couldnt phone the police as had no idea where in the country he was, neither did my mum so she phoned the local police.
I came on here because i needed to distract myself as i couldnt keep phoning my mum because everytime i did she would jump at the phone thinking it was him.
What else could i of done at the time? I couldnt stay on the phone to my mum as it would of been blocking the line if he called
