I have been advised that this is a Chinese Good Luck charm: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/plocket /IMG_9042.jpg

Is it for good luck, or is it for something different? I would be most grateful for any assistance - thank you.

Yes it is actually a symbol for "Double Happiness", usually associated with a wedding.

We went to a Chinese restaurant on my 50th birthday & the owners gave me a Chinese cat money box, which they said would bring me luck financially, ha, ha! Let's say, we've not won the lottery - as yet!!!!

Chinese Cat Money Box
smudge, such a tasteful piece as well!!! lol
I think it's 'orrible too RATTER - not my taste at all!!!!

The Chinese couple were so pleased to give it to me though, bless 'em!

Apparently, it's supposed to sit facing a window for 'good luck' - so it sits on the very top of my kitchen wall units, right at the back well out of sight & that's where it'll stay!!!! ;o}
I think I would also place it in a similar place!!!
I quite like it lol
He, he!

I had a green jade necklace with 22 k gold clasp and a chinese gold lettering on the friont, that my Mother in law (in hell) gave me on my wedding day, it had been her mum's and i went into my local chinese chippy to ask what the symbols meant and the guy said 'good luck good fortune' and so i put it in her coffin with her. (she died in 1986)
