What are those tiny little phrases people say to you on a daily (or weekly) basis that bug you but you find you use them yourself?

Like when you are eating a salad and someone says 'Ooh that looks healthy'. Or on a Friday 'Don't worry. At least it Friday'.. or 'It's nearly the weekend'!

These things bug me but people in the office say it all the time.. I think it's just to make conversation!

We just fall into the trap of saying these stupid things and then afterwards, mentally kicking ourselves because we hate the phrases! Lol

I do this one a lot .. all the time in fact and it bugs me.. I say 'Hi, you alright'.. But it's not a question... I don't care if you're alright! It's a greeting!
it's funny how other people's commonly used phrases creep into your lingo. My former manager ends virtually every sentence with"...to be honest" and i found myself doing it too. then another colleague keeps saying "on the basis that...." and now i do it.its annoying!
I dont get he's gonna have his cake and eat it. What else do you do with a cake??
if you're on a diet like me, stare at it longingly....

mmmmmmm. Caaaaaaaaaaake!

Yeah I never get that 4get.... coz if you have cake... you will eat it.. you can't eat it if you don't have it and you certainly won't have it and not eat it! But yet again a phrase I use! Grrrr
What annoys me when someone is gossiping about someone and they go 'im not being funny but.....''

Or when someone starts a sentence with 'Don't tell anyone but...' and they have already told half the office anyway or you walk past them later on and hear them telling someone else!
Ruby, I get annoyed by those phrases as well, it's just so predictable, and you know it's coming and you still have to respond..
Anyway, my other innocuous but irritating phrase is "I'm fine thanks...... tired"
I never say now it but I used to.
"Tired"? You mean hung over, depressed, strung out, bored beyond belief, etc etc etc.
Yes! Just like everybody else then! Stuck here everyday! Weary, cynical, in general good health but harbouring an urge to set fire to the building and most people in it !

Well you're not the first and only person to feel that way so kindly just say you're fine or well or good and we'll leave it at that whilst having an unspoken understanding each other. Thank you.
grrr
"Worse things happen at sea.............."

aaaaarrrrggghhhhhh !

Or when you come back from lunch and someone says 'Been outside?'........ Nope... I hovered in the f*cking doorway for an hour!
