I went to get into bed last night and lifted the duvet (as you do) when suddenly a huge, hairy, 8-legged arachnid named Sid scurried out and ran down the side of the mattress. He was obviously pretty annoyed that i'd woken him from his cosy slumber in my bed because he looked pretty aggressive and scary to me.

So I jumped back, shuddered, squealed and generally reacted like a big girl's blouse in a hee-bee-gee-bees fit.

Then I did what any mature and responsible adult would do in such situations... I let Sid have the run of the bedroom whilst I retired to the sofabed in the living room.

At least I know i'm not mad though, because I didn't sellotape up the gaps around the bedroom door like other crazy arachnophobes would do!

But seriously, would you have done the same in my situation? What other options did I have?

I'm fine with snakes, rats, mice, moths etc. It's just spiders I freak out with. Completely irrational I know. It's my issue, which I why I can't hurt the horrible, terryfing little cuties.
John speaks wise words. If all the spiders in the land were killed it would damage the eco system beyond repair :o(

I love them, seriously. I love watching them in the garden spinning their webs to catch the nasty aphids.

Frogs..they are my greatest fear. *shudder* however I couldn't ever hurt one.
just anything with more than 4 legs i don't like, but i wouldn't kill them and i hate it when people do, that's just not on, they can have the house/office whatever i'll find another space elsewhere!
We too had a humungus beast indoors last night (and it wasn't Mr. ES) but he did put him out in the rain. I kept seeing him run accross the floor out of the corner of my eye and eventually he came to a standstill but if you don't put them out, they will make huge cobwebs supposedly.

Lions + tigers have only got four legs but I'm more afraid of them than I am a wee tiny 8 legged spider, and they could do you more harm than a eensie weensie itsie bitsie spider!!!
yeah well unless my cat is having anothe pyscotic spell i'm not likely to encounter a lion or tiger in my bedroom now am I? 'sides the spiders round my way are all chav'ed up, wear burberry and are packing heat!

Arghhhhhhh not spiders in the bedroom!

A few nights ago as I was settling down to sleep one of the little blighters came running up my duvet towards me! I think I may have screamed as I jumped up throwing the duvet onto my boyfriend who had no idea what was happening!

A couple of nights a go the little s0d did the same thing! This time though I managed to shake the duvet so the spider went onto the floor and not onto my boyfriend lol
one run across my bed last night 2 . i killed it cos i knew i would not sleep if it was in my bed room . im not giving my bed up for a spider
