i have been put on these tablets today.
is there an alternative to tablets as i cannot take them to save my life.
i asked and the women, snottily replied "no, all infections are treated with tablets."
i asked a simple question and without any form of rudeness!
is there anything else i can take?
(it says on the packet to be swallowed whole, do not crush or chew. i'm at a bit of a loose end)

IS it general tablet taking you have problems with? If not an alternative is clindamycin
is it a type of antibiotic? I was prescribed some liquid Erythromycin, as the tablet foorm was cauing an allergic reaction. when you say "the woman" do you mean the pharmacist? If you have so much trouble swallowing pills, you'd probably be best going back to your GP and asking if he/she can prescribe something else. There's a plethora of drugs out there, there must surely be an alternative?
Oh just reread..... you cant take ANY tablets it seems.

You can defintately get suppositories of Metranidazole. Depends if you want to stick something up your bottom instead.
Not that this will likely be of much help -but I was prescribed them and I will NEVER put another one of those tablets near my mouth again. In saying that its obviously not the same for everyone.
I was then treated with Penicillin -OK it took a tad longer but the end result was the same.

BTW -she WAS very rude to you .
Not as far as I know, but speak to your GP or NHS direct. It is essential you complete the course of treatment.

If you are seriously ill then it can be administered by needle, but that is usually for hospital patients only and is probably not suitable for you.
Ooops -we all posted at the same time and I have just re-read as well. Can you quarter the tabs to get them back if thats the prob?

I thought it was the actual anitbiotic which was the problem -it is very strong -sorry.
crush them up and mix them up with squash. My mate has same Phobia with tablets. Ive never understood though how she can swallow food but not tablets. Thinks its something that can play on your mind.
If the box says dont crush, dont crush. IT can alter how your tablet wrks, some tablets even have a little coating to protect your tummy .

Try taking them with a thicker liquid like yoghurt. Or push it into a tiny bit of cheese and swallow that whole instead.
mmmmmm cheese
Lol - 4get - i was just thinking the exact same thing!
this comes in liquid form - brand name Flagyl - but it's more expensive than tabs. you could always explain to your doc/dentist your problem and hopefully the will prescribe liquid instead. good luck!
