1)im cold and heartless or
2)i'm condoning paedophilla (which im certainly not) i will state again, it is very wrong, but i just cant get all het up about it - either because i dont have any children or because i think the media hypes things around the subject too much without me adding to it.

I don't like the fact that Bill Wyman is called a paedophile. As whiffey has pointed out, there are different degrees and to look at Mandy Smith at 13 you wouldn't have had a clue..ok, so he soon found out how old she was and..
Oh bu88er it I'm off to my dark room again.

Pippa. Well said. I also agree that all benefits should have some strings attached.
Young single mothers claiming council houses and benefits are one of my favourite gripes. Nobody asked them to have children, so why should the taxpayer fund their lazy lifestyle? Nearly all can be seen smoking and drinking and it makes me sick to think I have to indirectly support them.

Well I'm not sure about that, Dassie..but I am not on this thread to debate or argue someone's point ;o)
I have kids and pets so I can be emotive about both types of abuse but I state again that having sex with a 14 year old girl who is streetwise and probably knows what she is doing is entirely different from having sex with a 6 year old 'real' child.
I hope that makes sense!

at the risk of really really getting people annoyed, (but i am used to that anyway) I am afraid that over the years if a story comes on the news about an earthquake ot a bridge collapse and it is in a third world country , even if it mentions several hundred dead, i do nor seem to register an emotional flicker, and when i think back to the years that we had the Vietnam footage on out TVs night after night, it seems like it is stemming from those times. it is something thast we watched every day whilst waiting for the local TV news, it gfelt very detached then. probably will regret posting this but noone takes any notice of me anyway lol
That's very interesting Dotty.
I remember when the tsunami hit, and being totally unpopular as I wasn't as upset as I had been when 9/11 happened. In fact I wasn't upset at all ~ probably because I considered it one of nature's evils..and 'act of god' as it were, rather than an act of terrorism.
As Wardy says, everyone is different and emotive subjects are too.
