Oh yes...everything got worse from the age of about 45 onwards, seguing into perimenopause and hot flush valley. Its worth getting a check out in case its anything serious and or treatable, eg fibroids

I am 39 and have no real physical symptoms, but in the last 6 months I have gradually gone from feeling a bit irritable for a week or so to feeling like I am about to explode with rage at any minute, and am unable to cope with even minor problems. It has kind of crept up on me, but for the last couple of days I have been like a coiled up snake, ready to pounce at anything, I can even feel a tight knot of anger in my chest. I have read all the advice about diet, exercise etc, but I had always thought that PMS was more likely to decline with fertility (and I know fertitlity takes a dive around 40).
I would definitely make an appointment with your doctor to discuss this and to rule out whether you may have PMDD, which is a severe form of PMS. Most women get PMDD in their 20's and 30's and symptoms get worse with age. It would also be worth asking your doctor about alternative remedies (if you are not taking any already) as there are two which could be effective for you - agnus castus, and also Woman Essence, which is part of the Australian Bush Flower range. Naturally it would be best to seek medical advice before using these.
Kags, as you know from 'book, we are the same age and I have been feeling the same for the last few months too. While out with my children and mum a few weeks ago, my eldest (age 4) had a tantrum and I felt a complete, nervous wreck. I over-reacted to the situation and ended up crying my eyes out in the middle of the high street. I am snappy most of the time and have that 'before an interview' feeling in my tummy too. I went to the docs last week and he has put me on mild anti-depressants, but now I am wondering if I should be on something else... I hope you get sorted and can REALLY sympathise with you.
What's "the 'book", coggles? Would it be possible to post some kind of link or something?

Thank you everyone - I am off to see the doctor before I murder someone!
I only realled suffered from PMT after I had kids, so I guess it does get worse. I have found that taking Oil of Evening Primrose has helped a lot.
