toning up
14 Answers
Hey Ab'ers.
I need some advice:
I'd like to tone the tum a little WITHOUT the dieting thing.
I'm 5'9 and well built ( as in well built 15.5 stones - not a bloater - 36" waist - 47" chest) but the tum could do with a 'tighten up' . I've one of those machines with the pads that you put on and it pulses like so... flash....flash " AHHH " ...etc would that help ??
Thanks for the help peeps & hope that you're enjoying the October ! blue skies.. :0)

Yes an ab roller or sit up regime will tone and strenghten the stomach muscles but that is of little use if you do not lose the fat.
Remember Geoff Capes? Well I can assure you he had a six pack and stomach muscles stronger than you and I put together. But he was also a little chubby which hid the muscles.
In fact an ab roller may make your waist larger as abdoms tend to be a protuding muscle. Hence they will push the gut out more.
I too have a 36 inch waist but have a larger chest than you which gives a better proportion.
It will easier to build the chest than lose the gut, trust me.
But all that said, if you are naturally a big lad, 15.5 stones seems a healthy weight. Forget all those bloody charts etc. According to them Frank Bruno is clinically obese. Do you want to tell him that?
If you really want to lose a few inches just cut back on a few snacks and do a bit more walking. As a general rule of thumb, the last weight on is the first weight off. Although you can not "spot reduce", the formation of brown fat cells are easier to shift than established ones. And if you are like me, the older we get, the fat tend to be on the belly.

i'm getting the drift ! lol.
The only slight fly in my otherwise mill pond like ointment is that i can loose 'weight' at the drop of a hat ie my metabolism will burn calories really and i mean REALLY quickly. If i don't eat for a day i would ( and have ) lost a good few pounds SERIOUSLY ! If i cut back on the resonably varied diet that i have, the first 'weight ' to go will be from my face, which makes me look like i'm knackered.
i seriously would consider a bit of lipo' but maybe i'm being OTT.
If i hold it in a little, i would say that i look fine with a well toned upperthat regularly does the entire 140+ pounds on my pec deck
Oh i just don't know ..... HMmm !! :0( am i expecting a miracle.!!

Try Body Pump, I went to their classes twice per week and dropped an entire dress size in one month, although I didn't lose any weight I had noticable muscle definition in my arms, legs and tum.
Visit your local leisure centre and see if they offer the classes, it's great fun and has good music and the changes are dramatic and quick! Give it a go xx
