Benefits of Smoking?
38 Answers
A friend of mine who has collitis, said he was told that smoking is actually good for him. i can't believe that, but is there any truth in it?
Also, I have heard that although smoking is especially bad for diabetics, it actually lowers the blood sugar, so the readings look good. Is this right, and why?

As for colitis, there was an episode of House that alluded to it helping. Backed up by research :

see smudge everything is blamed on smoking. look at girls today when pregnant they drink take drugs and smoke and have perfectly heathy babies and somebody that goes by the book doesn"t do any of these things and has a healthy diet and something is wrong with the baby!!! not saying this is right but just trying to put a point across. personnely i smoke and have stopped going to pubs as much because i don"t enjoy a drink without a fag in my other hand. lol
good that you don"t smoke as much but it should be our choice!!!

Hi hussy - my ex-boss's wife smoked throughout her pregnancies & all of their three children were born healthy & have gone on to produce equally as healthy children themselves.
Personally, I think it's luck of the draw, as I know some women who've never smoked & have had lots of health issues along the way!
You can't win!
P.S. When I said I was anti-smoking, I used to have the odd fag here & there myself, but fortunately never got completely 'hooked'.

p.s. I'm a smoker but all this stuff you talk about is mininformed garbage and taken way out of 'context' from the original research thats so blatantly misquoted in tabloids..Please dont do it again.or I'll get annoyed. You wouldn't like to see me when I get annoyed(although when I have a fag it seems to 'abate' my aggression)See-SMOKING PREVENTS AGGRESSION-BIG FAT FACT!
My husband and I are trying for a baby and apparently the fact we both smoke and drink (not drinking to excess I hasten to add!) reduces our fertility. But why is it you hear so many stories of girls who smoke getting pregnant after a drunken, drug-fuelled one night stand. I also know several pub landlords/landladies that smoke and drink loads but have several healthy kids. Just NOT FAIR!
I started when I was 12 so that's roughly half my life. The blood I was coughing up was black when I punctured my diaphragm and it stank but I still smoke and can still compete at footy and stuff. That's not to say I don't want to stop but I really enjoy it. I intend to stop before I have a family though.
Awww, you may crack it one day hussy! lol
As I say, I think it's luck of the draw....
Our youngest daughter smokes & had no trouble becoming pregnant, going on to have two children.
Our eldest daughter has never smoked, but had trouble conceiving. She was given fertility drugs & eventually...went on to have two children too.
