Didn't know they'd split up.
She wasn't compensated for the cracked ribs though, was she?

I am disgusted at the amount though - she killed off her own career when she had the trout pout. After all it is me, you and everyone else that will pay this compensation
Ah it's compo not a divorce settlement?? What's she got that for then??
For contracting MRSA in hospital after the cracked ribs incident.

The NHS pays the compensation.

For ****'s sake!!!!! A woman local to us was attacked with a knife and got 3,000. They never caught the attacker so she got minimum compo.
I'm horrified at the amount she recieved too (of our money too!), but if I was in that situation I'd expect compensation comparable to my loss of earnings as well as the inconvenience too.

Surely she would have had to submit something that details her average earnings before that amount was decided, whether she'd recently ruined her own career or not?
As I said on another post, the money should go into getting all hospitals cleaned properly and teaching medical staff how to wash their hands after going to the toilet / touching other patients!!! Some people don't understand the importance of washing their hands.
It's not your money, well it is sort of. The NHS take out insurance for just this type of compensation claim.
The insurance company pay out, not the NHS
Sorry, I didn't know that.
And who pays the insurance? The premiums will rocket - it is nhs funds that pay this insurance money.

Yeah Ethel granted, however the premiums will be a fraction of the 5m paid out, same as any insurance policy
sadly a lot of people who have had to have amputations or who have become disabled as a result of MRSA are not getting 5 million....
Couldn't agree more cazzz!
It's sad that you have to go to that length to get money back as many will not beable to afford big expensive solicitors and will therefore lose out.

My brother died in 2006 of various NHS infections and mistakes, but my parents refuse to take action as they are strict Christians and think taking money from the NHS will not help anyone just the opposite.

I did want to take them to court purely so they could acknoledge not only the unnessesary death of my brother but also the sheer pain and neglect he received from the NHS in the 1 yr period before his death. If we were awarded money I would not feel bad because I would reinvest it in those people the NHS does not care for and invest properly in, such and people living daily with disablities.
