You may have a condition called alopecia areata, where you make antibodies to your hair follicles. Your GP may be able to help. There isn't much that you can do yourself to help this, I'm afraid.

Dear Jenny,

Any problems with hair fallout or specific places where hair is sparse - can be due to several reasons.  One - where there is continual pulling (ie pony tail, elastic bands) causing a stress point (ie. forehead area)  Or otherwise stop pulling your hair (nervous unconscious habit).  No 2 - do massage your scalp with fingertips in circular motion gently sothat the skin moves across the scalp.  Do this for a minute daily as part of routine.  Also I have had fantastic success with a remedy that is encouraging lots of new hairgrowth - after I had surgery 2 years ago.  It is called (Hair & Skin by Naturesway - 100 tabs. for $39.95 NZ)  It has many wonderful minerals, Vitamins but most importantly a protein building block needed for all our bodily healing called 'glucosamine'.  It helps produce new collagen in the body affection hair, skin, nails, eyesight.  Just about everything that renews our growth cycle.  Collagen being the main building block of our bodies will within 2 - 3 months bring new thick hair growth.  Try it and you will like what you see!  Good luck to all who have similar problems.
