My boyfriend found a lump on side of his neck about 5 years ago, had it cut out and has had chemo, he is fit and well today and it doesnt seem to have fazed him much at all. Thats what I dont like when you tell someone that someone you know has got cancer or they say it might be cancer I have known people to get so upset and think of it as a death sentence before knowing any details which it isnt always bad news
One of my friends was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 30s - she was a laywer, in a stressful job, with three kids. Good news now is, nearly 10 years later, she is 100% well... but is driving us all crazy! ;) She has found a lust for life and is making the rest of us feel lazy!
She has been back to university three times - got two masters degrees and just got her PhD last week (in creative writing!)
She has written a novel, which is currently hopefully going to be published, her kids are going great, she has taken up belly dancing, doing NVQs in something to do with stableship and looking after horses and is learning to be a silversmith, oh, and I met her at work - she has retrained and is now a fully qualified journalist, on peanuts compared to what she earned as a lawyer but loving her work!
Whatever you're going through - my thoughts are with you. But, if my friend is anything to go by, cancer need not be a death sentence. There is life with and after cancer and my wonderful, wonderful friend is living proof of that.
As for alternative therapies - nothing is proven, otherwise the NHS would be sending everyone off for them. But trying things out with an oncologist's blessing can't do any harm. Anything relaxing will probably help you (or whoever it is going through this) cope - massage, aromatherapy, relfexology etc.
Take care x

hi carly, my wife has had cancer (Breast) and she thankfully came through it ok, I was more scared than she was, the main thing is to remain 100% positive, talk about it and keep the sense of humout that is so important, Can I ask you why you are asking?
We also have a friend that has been through it and survived and another just diagnosed, but doing well at the moment, take care, Ray xx

A friend was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2001. The prognosis is usually very poor in a matter of months let alone seven year later. Against the odds the cancer is no longer detectable.
She had it cut out twice and chemotherapy that didn't make it smaller. She did alterntave stuff including ayahuasca and an intensive vitamin C therapy. She meditated, fasted ,cleansed, you name it she tried it.
No idea what really worked but it seems to have done the trick on an otherwise serious cancer. Apparently it turned out to be an unusual type of pancreatic cancer so they know very little about it.

Hi carly
My Husband has had bladder cancer for over four years now.
He has had operations every three months during that time, lots of sessions of chemo and quite ill during that time.
We were told last month the last chemo has not worked.
He is due to go back in for another operation in a few weeks time to remove the tumours which we have been told will still keep coming back.
We both keep a positive attitude, keep a sense of humour like Ray has also said.
It is something we live with now, and don't allow it to affect our lives too much.
In between operations he returns to running his own business. xx

My sister had a very rare form of cancer in the bone of her arm, she found it because someone frightened her one day by sneeking up on her from behind. As she jerked, her arm broke! X-rays showed her bone was as week as an eggshell.
She had a 2% chance of recovering, we naturally thought the worse and she was in for quite a fight!
That was over ten years ago and she's still here! she got through it!
My mother has recently recovered from an agressive form of cancer of the womb, she's recovering well and getting back on track from her therepy.
I think that keeping positive will help you and your family cope with whats happening and trusting the proffesionals to do what they are doing. Have faith in them and keep yousrelf active. I wish you well x x x x
