Can anyone recall silly things that you may've thought when you were a child?

I always thought that when you paid money into your savings account they kept it in a box for you and gave the exact notes/coins back that you had paid in when you made a withdrawal. I was a bit dismayed when I found out I was getting somebody elses money!

I also used to think that Booldawg! When i was very young i used to think that clothes grew and not people, so that i would always be that size! and my clothes would grow to fit me?! How weird would that be.

Yes, so did I !! I thought everyone had their own little tin box that the bank would take care of till we wanted our money !
I also used to think that when Richard Baker was reading the news he could see me getting my pyjamas on so I would hide behind the settee!

I also remember thinking that babies were born wearing clothes and that if a baby was wearing pink then it was a girl cos it had been born wearing pink !

Oh to see through the eys of a child, life is so simple, everything is so clear, no matter wht goes wrong daddy will fix it and mummy can make you better no matter what is wrong, it is an idyllic way to live if only politicians could see this clearly.

I remember the description of santa coming down the chimney, I can still envisage this now, and the tooth faires, tryed to stay awake but never saw one.

we used to walk through the cemetary to get to town and my mu told me it's where they bury people. I always used to be on the lookout for people hiding behind the graves with spades in order to shove us in a grave and bury us

I used to think 'vampires' were (a. real) made of pastry, like my mums mince pies (!).

when i was 5ish i had an operation and they needed to put a camera down my throat, for years i wondered how they managed to get it in my mouth and down my throat ;-)

Oil in puddles, i really believed they were dead rainbows and used to get really upset over them.

i used to believe that babies were made by to people weeing in the same place so got really scared when you go to the loo and someone hasn't flushed it incase i had a baby.

i thought they were trapped rainbows Boo, and you had to jump in them to free the rainbow, needless to say my mum wasn't impressed!

When I was little, I used to think that travelling fairs just arrived by magic and disappeared the same way, to come back the following year. I can remember visiting a site the day after one fair'd moved on, and I was speechless to find nothing there. I couldn't work out how the rides'd just vanished overnight!

Hi Booldawg , when a pie was taken out of the oven and had a cup in the middle ,( to stop the pastry sagging I now know) , I used to think the cup grew inside the pie as it cooked. Mum let me marvel at that for years !

When I used to cry when my Dad was going to work I would beg him to stay and tell me another story before he went. He used to say - Katie, I will get the sack if I am late and I thus always thought his boss would throw a sack on his back.

Hey BM- how on earth do you get a cup in a pie? And more importantly, how do you get it back out again? I know i'm probably being incredibly thick- but you do mean a cup under the pastry....right?

I have this awful memory of one of my first days at primary school in which the dinner lady was trying to get us all to be quiet so she used that 'take the magic key' out of the pocket routine to 'lock our mouths shut.' Thing is, I was quite a literal child and I was very concerned that I didn't have a key that everyone else had and it upset me greatly.
