I am in a 19 year marriage and whilst I have been tempted over the years to stray, I have always reminded myself why I committed myself to my wife in the first place, the first time we met, kissed etc..That hs often been more than enough to make me realise that it is easy to be drawn towards involvement with another person, but much harder to repair the damage to a good relationship.
I think the last figures I saw were that it's believed that 60% of men are unfaithful at some point in their lives and 40% of women are. (Google "Atwood and Schwartz" for details)

I think that was done in the US. I'd expect the UK to be a little less but probably not far off.

However these things are notoriously difficult to get accurate figures for and much lower numbers are bandied about. However given the nature of the issue you've got to suspect that the true figures are higher than most surveys

You also have to bear in mind people can be unfaithful without necessarilly going the whole hog so it depends on your definition
I've been and will continue to be faithful to my husband. I was unfaithful in a previous relationship, way back in the early 90's. I'd never seen a man cry before, and I'd never felt such shame or guilt. I learnt a valuable lesson.

I doubt many people are faithful, which is depressing.
Mrs M is my third (and final) proper 'grown-up' relationship.
The first cheated on me and ultimately left me..........
The second cheated on me and I walked away out of self-preservation.

I have been totally faithfull to her and she to me, for almost 20 years.

I never know what she is going to say when she walks into the room..............and she is always the person with whom I am glad to be leaving a party........

These may not be the two most romantic reasons for staying together but they work for me.............amongst other, of course :o)
I hope people can be faithfull. I completely agree with the comments about what goes on on tv.

Its nice to hear that people are, its one of the reasons I dread going in to a new relationship.
It kind of begs the question 'is fidelity natural to humans'? Its something we have to learn. Being faithful to one partner is even more cherished in Western culture than it is in others. (apart from the French!)
30 years married in November, and never been unfaithful, but I must admit, at times its been hard, but you look at the person you would lose if they found out, so you don't.
Yes I like to think so. Saying that it is all over the tv/films etc. I think that you wouldnt cheat if you were happy in your relationship so if the majority of people cheat when in a relationship theres a lot of unhappy people out there.
I have been completely faithful to my hubby and have been with him since I was just 18 now 14 years. I have never been tempted to stray I love him too much and the thought of even kissing anyone else turns my stomach! I know he feels exactly the same way and we trust each other implicitly. People who do cheat always have something missing in their relationship and do not communicate.
i have for the last 4 years....... i value my life thankyou very much and wouldn"t like to clear up all mess with the other person lol and thats the truth............. any offers though?????
take it thats a NO then lol
