A week before I left my old employers I had an operation which had been booked for a while but coincided with my resignation period. However, even after I handed them a doctors certificate they seem to have only paid me statutory sick pay, are they allowed to do this or should I have been paid full pay????
Sorry I can't help you properly, but I suggest you phone the Citizens Advice Bureau or even better, Social Services. There is usually a page of phone numbers for places like this on a special page in the phone book under the name of the town where you live, ie: in my book it's amongst the pages for Barnsley Council, etc. Hope this is of some help to you. Clutching at straws, the local library may stock leaflets about this sort of thing.
