Night sweats
21 Answers
Every since the piglet was born I have been having the most awful night sweats. I wake up and I am drenched, my hairs, my jammies, the pillow and the bed clothes are soaking and I have taken to sleeping on a towel.
This happens about 6 nights out of 7 and sometimes twice a night.
Now my question is, is this something related to post pregnancy or could it be the onset of something else, grrrrr? I am 40.
I have had these before but once in a blue moon, never with such regularity.
Thanks

yeah sally middle age is all about changes for us, Im 44 at the end of this year
Warpig it could just be that your hormones havent settled after the birth tho and it might settle a bit, plus it is muggy just now at night too and if your rushing around with the piglet all these things might be a factor too. Maybe your adrenalin is working overtime just now.
The doc will prob ask you to keep a diary of your cycle etc, and any changes, and just keep an eye on it.

hi warpig hun! Hope you and piglet are well.
For about 2 weeks after Amelia was born i was the same, absolutely drenched on waking and bed was soaked. Im still very warm at night and its not just the warm weather. Its also been suggested that the blisters on my feet are something to do with excess sweating (yuk)
i would have a word with GP in case there is some reason other than hormones though.

Thanks everyone, feel better already just having shared it!
Ethel, no I havent got a new mattress but I have moved into the back bedroom where the piglet sleeps in her cot. I did think it could be change of room/mattress but unfortunately had to dismiss that as was sweating like a pig (how appropriate) in the front bedroom too.
Redcrx, thats why I held off going to doctor or asking about it as I thought it was just my body settling down after the pregnancy but its gone on too long for me to ignore anymore and quite frankly its a pain in the @rse!

Hi patricia the piglet is doing great, she is just so funny and without doubt one of the most incredibly nosey babies I have ever come across, she watches everything and if she could turn her head 360 degrees she would.
Actually I was just thinking if it was the menopause then its lucky I had her when I did, although apparently there is still time for me to have another one (if I get my skates on), ha, ha, dont think so somehow.
Hope all is well with you too patricia.

Hi Warpig, I hope it's not themenopause as I am only 25 and I got it in the weeks following Emilia's birth! I would wake up drenched, but apparently it is your body getting rid of the excess fluid. At first I thought i was just overheating but when I woke up with no covers on me and shivering I knew it couldn't be because I was hot! My GP said it's common after the birth to sweat out excess fluid your body retained during pregnancy.
That said, mine stopped a few weeks after baby was born - how old is piglet now? xx
