Night sweats

Every since the piglet was born I have been having the most awful night sweats. I wake up and I am drenched, my hairs, my jammies, the pillow and the bed clothes are soaking and I have taken to sleeping on a towel.

This happens about 6 nights out of 7 and sometimes twice a night.

Now my question is, is this something related to post pregnancy or could it be the onset of something else, grrrrr? I am 40.

I have had these before but once in a blue moon, never with such regularity.

Thanks

you should probably see your GP about this. I had a little google, and it says there are many causes (no mention of childbirth, but of course menopause is one); most are no problem but it can very occasionally signal early cancer, so a doctor would need to rule that out.

Thanks jno, eeeek, never even thought to google, just assumed it might be postpregnancy related or menopause.

Will book doctors appt today.
Hi warpig - nice to see you again!!

I often get soaked in sweat at night (about twice of 3 times a week) and I put it down to the peri menopause. i am 44 though so have a few years on you. Google perimenopause and see what you think. Dont worry about the big c x

Hi sally, havent been on much, been busy, just not enough hours in the day. Will google that now and have a read. many thanks.
Hey warpig, jno and sally

Yep at 43 I'm the very same but have had the sweats for a few years now, the doc checked my adrenalin levels just in case but was normal so hey ho probably on the slippery slope of hormones lol

Hi weeal, glad to know I am not alone!

Just had a read at perimenopause and apart from the night sweats the only other symptom that applies to me is being crabby! But I was always crabby so its hard to know if it is related, lol.

Anyway, doctors appt made for next Thursday.

Thank you all.
God luck warpig and glad to hear weeal you are nearly as old as moi!!
Just an observation - have you had a new mattress?

Some mattresses can make a person unbearably hot and sweaty
hee hee isnt it fun - NOT
yeah sally middle age is all about changes for us, Im 44 at the end of this year

Warpig it could just be that your hormones havent settled after the birth tho and it might settle a bit, plus it is muggy just now at night too and if your rushing around with the piglet all these things might be a factor too. Maybe your adrenalin is working overtime just now.

The doc will prob ask you to keep a diary of your cycle etc, and any changes, and just keep an eye on it.
Yeah maybe weeal but i have seen you on FB and you look about 20 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
hi warpig hun! Hope you and piglet are well.

For about 2 weeks after Amelia was born i was the same, absolutely drenched on waking and bed was soaked. Im still very warm at night and its not just the warm weather. Its also been suggested that the blisters on my feet are something to do with excess sweating (yuk)

i would have a word with GP in case there is some reason other than hormones though.
lol Sally I do not
who are you on FB?? do I have u on my list I dont think I do hon, add me in
will pop in now and add you!
Welll i often get these .Hope its not the change!!I like me as i am .

Hi piggy just thought id say hi .Hows sunny lithgy today

Thanks everyone, feel better already just having shared it!

Ethel, no I havent got a new mattress but I have moved into the back bedroom where the piglet sleeps in her cot. I did think it could be change of room/mattress but unfortunately had to dismiss that as was sweating like a pig (how appropriate) in the front bedroom too.

Redcrx, thats why I held off going to doctor or asking about it as I thought it was just my body settling down after the pregnancy but its gone on too long for me to ignore anymore and quite frankly its a pain in the @rse!

Hi leggy, lol, if you are going through 'the change' I suggest you get to the doctors pronto!

Lithgae is fine, its the Marches this tuesday so guess the place will come to a standstill and everyone will be drunk by 5.30 pm, just like last year, mrwarpig is looking forward to it, ha, ha, I am not :-o(
Shows behind tescos?
I remember in my younger days working on the dodgems at the lithgae marches.

Ah the memories are flooding back.

Btw i AM the Dr hadnt you noticed ??

Hi Warpig, hows baby piglet doing ? bet shes grown a lot... good job you had her when you did if it is the start of the menopause eh? xx night sweats are a pain - ive had them for a few years now : (

Hi patricia the piglet is doing great, she is just so funny and without doubt one of the most incredibly nosey babies I have ever come across, she watches everything and if she could turn her head 360 degrees she would.

Actually I was just thinking if it was the menopause then its lucky I had her when I did, although apparently there is still time for me to have another one (if I get my skates on), ha, ha, dont think so somehow.

Hope all is well with you too patricia.
Hi Warpig, I hope it's not themenopause as I am only 25 and I got it in the weeks following Emilia's birth! I would wake up drenched, but apparently it is your body getting rid of the excess fluid. At first I thought i was just overheating but when I woke up with no covers on me and shivering I knew it couldn't be because I was hot! My GP said it's common after the birth to sweat out excess fluid your body retained during pregnancy.

That said, mine stopped a few weeks after baby was born - how old is piglet now? xx
