Are there different types of yoga? What is Iyengar Yoga, is it the type where you have to balance on your shoulders with your legs in the air, or is it more gentle than that ?

Yes, lots of different types.

I've tried the normal sort, Iyengar, Hatha and Ashtanga (power yoga....or evil yoga as I prefer to call it).

Some are more indepth and to do with alignment, quite a bit of partnership work, pulling and sometimes using bands to pull each other into the right positions.

I must admit I learnt a lot more about yoga and body balance from the specialist classes.

There's Dru yoga as well which one of my osteopaths teaches. Meant to be fab and there's a video of her on Youtube about it somewhere.

Oh and there are different levels to yoga, you start doing a simple position then increase the stretch or difficulty gradually so your body adapts over time.

I took up yoga on doctors orders.

I do the mild yoga, we have a lot of relaxation, I think it might be the Iyengar yoga. Some of it is hard.
