Hello I am a 14 year old girl and I sweat waaay too much. I know this isnt normal and it could be Hyperhidrosis but my mum wont take me to the doctors. I had a martial arts class today and my led had a damp patch. I was wearing a jumper as i didnt want any wet patches showing but when i got home my top was soaked with sweat and so were my pants and a bit of my trousers. Sorry if you find that gross I do. I am not overweight infact no way near and I havn't started my period. I have tried lots of differant deoderants but none of them have worked && I saw an adver on tv about this deoderant called PerspireX on the adver it said you may only need to use it twice a week. I followed the instructions saying use it for a couple of days in a row for 2-3 days for the desired affect this didnt affect my problem so i increased my use of it it still didnt affect it. please please leave useful comments and thankyou sooo much :) xxxxxx

Make sure you wash everyday, wear cotton clothing if possible, and don't wear jumpers when exercising as they will definitely make you sweat! Also make sure that you buy an anti-perspirant deoderant. Deoderants only mask the smell, you need an anti-perspirant (sweat is perspiration), so if you have a joint one it will help to stop the sweat and mask any smells.

the jumper will do you no favours! you could try driclor (anti-perspirant) which you use at night time but it stung when I used it. I use Mitchum 48 Hour Protection (roll-on) which is great.
spudqueen is absolutlely right. Also if your mum won't take you to the doctor and it really bothers you, could you find someone else to go with you? Or is there a youth clinic anywhere near to you? Check it out, we have one in our local health centre, it's confidential and they can advise you.
I tried Perspirex but it stung like bugg-ery, so I switched to Linden Voss Triple Dry. Works a treat and no stinging.
I found Linden Voss very effective too lola. All of those strong anti-perspirants generally have to be applied at night to get the best results;-)
Some of the really strong ones can sting a bit.

You could try using the mitchum roll on antiperspirant then do a quick spray with a dry spray, the blue sanex one is good, just make sure you hold it away from your arm a bit so it doesn't make it wet.

Have a shower every morning with an antibacterial shower gel like Sanex or Carex as it's the bacteria which leads to the smell.

Be careful what you wear, cool fabrics with nothing pressing against your arms if possible and let them breathe.

Strangely enough I find that if you let your feet breathe more (crocs are great) then you don't get so hot in general.

If you use the stronger antiperspirants then bear in mind you have to sweat somewhere so more important to keep your feet cool.

Carry some wet wipes around so you can freshen up whenever you need to.

Try to avoid covering up and making the problem worse, yo can get sports wear which makes it easier for your skin to breathe.

Have you let your mum know how upsetting it is for you? Could you write her a note and explain to her and ask her to take you to the doctors?
Can you not get to the doctors yourself. You do not need to go with an adult. Would a friend go with you perhaps. Anything you say to your doctor will be treated in confidence.

Personally, I think you should see a doctor first to discuss the problem before trying out any more products. It may be a hormonal problem due to your age and will sort itself out once you start your periods and get into a regular pattern. All sorts of things are happening to our bodies when we are 14 - not always the happiest time of our lives.

Best wishes to you. xx
I agree. Somehow you must get to see a doctor to discuss this - it will make you feel better about it as well.

In these days when 13year old girls get to have the contraceptive pill on their own, it is sad that your mum cannot see the absolute neccessity to support you.
Hi! I had a same problem all my life since I was 11 till couple months ago (30 now) You can by in Boots product call Anhydrol Forte (roll on) Follow instruction on leaflet and you will be o.k. Its really works and its about 5. Aplly before sleep and have a shower in the morning. I cant remember exactly how oftet you need to apply form the start........ But after a month, just about 1x week. After 2 month, I use this about once a 2-3 weeks and its works pefect. I can wear nice tops now and it never let me down. Please, speak to your GP before, just to make sure, you are o.k.. Dont be worried, lots of people have this problem. Dont let this problem let you down, you can sort it. Good luck, hope thats help.
Please dont worry, and most people are right in saying that it should settle down as you get older.

I dont think really chemically strong anti-perspirants are always a good idea as many can just block all your underarm pores completely leading to lymph glands etc.
Try something like 'Mumm' or 'Mitchum' ;)

My daughter struggles too and keeps a spare teeshirt and skirt in her school locker. You could do that and maybe bring spares to your martial arts too?

You CAN go to the doctors on your own and they wont tell your mum about sweating issues. I encourage you to go along yourself or maybe with a sister?

Good Luck Lola x
lolaaaa, we all remember how embarassing things can be when you're a teen. try talking to your mum or another family member (brother, sister, dad, aunt, nan) about how your feeling.

AS you can tell by the other responses here alot of people have had sweating problems also, so you're quite normal. however if you feel it is worth going to the doctors (even to just put your mind at rest) then you could go on your own or like I said before, with another family member.

I use Michum deodorant and it really works a treat and it says it lasts for 48hours.

talk to someone else about this, its quite normal but you shouldn't keep things all bottled up and worrying about them.
