Recently I've found that when I start drinking alcohol(usually cider) I start to burp an awful lot and find the burps to be quite foul smelling. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to stop it? It doesn't happen with ordinary drinks. I don't drink often anymore perhaps every second or third weekend, but when I do I have about 10 pints. However as I say, the burps start almost straight away when I star my first few mouthfuls.

Cider is a mysterious thing. This won't even vaguely answer your question, but raises another one - a friend of mine (now sadly deceased) used to drink cider. By about a third of the way down her pint, the liquid would be cloudy. I've never seen this with anyone else drinking cider, and she honestly wasn't adding ouzo or anything else likely to cause cloudiness! Any ideas?
The answer's simple - DON'T drink cider!
