Help for Carers
7 Answers
I'm going to give up my job to look after my partner's mother full-time. She is profoundly deaf, blind in one eye and very frail and forgetful. She is in receipt of attendance allowance and someone has mentioned that I should be able to get 200 per week to lokk after her.Can this be right and if so where do I get it /how do I apply?
Many thanks.

about 55 pounds before any deductions made for other benefits
perhaps your friend meant 200 pounds a month?
even if she also gave you all her attendance allowance (which she should do because its to pay for the care she needs) its 67 pw so together would make approx 120 a week

High rate of Attendance allowance is 67
a week ..carers is a lot less but they pay
your pension contribution to the DWP...
you really need to talk to someone about
this as it's not easy being a carer ..i did
it for 2+ years and the end result was the
old boy had to go in to residential care ..
and he is now settled and happy ..
24/7 care ..went to a function there today
and it was really good ...
