This has just brought back memories of when I had just married my husband who is from Tenerife. This was in the 1960's. While in Tenerife, his sister who was 19 at the time was not allowed to go out with her boyfriend unless someone else went with them. In order that she could go to the cinema, me and my husband had to go with them which was pretty boring for me (no back seats there and the film all in Spanish! so I could not understand a word of it). I felt guilty if I said no I didn't want to go. which menat she could not go So different now in Tenerife!
