Got my result back at the Doc's today . . . .

Cholesterol level of 11 !!!!!

Oooer, now I'm worried -

Anyone know of somebody with a higher No ?
(who's still alive !)

Ice the government were talking a while back about putting all over 50's on statins as a matter of routine. dunno what happened about that,

Well I was being serious lass, but I suppose it might not be a bad thing if you can laugh about it.

It's a bit frightening though, 'cos I sometimes feel my heart starting to thud and beat a lot faster, but then it passes.

It kinda makes you think that one day ..... ooh, don't like to say it!

If I suddenly stop posting on here ..... lol.

The way to look at it is I think The statins MIGHT make you feel like **** but you'll be alive and they can counteract side effects with other med so you might end up taking 20-30 tabs a day, like I do but I feel fine :-) Here endeth the sermon

I think plant sterols can be quite useful - certainly with the addition of statins, by way of a carefully controlled diet, cherrybea.

Yep - I'm definately taking the medication, have stopped drinking as of tonight & am going to try and do all the other stuff, like excercise & eat only good foodstuffs !

To be honest, it's the thought of having a stroke that frightens me most !

Keep trying to think along those lines everytime you're tempted to over-do things Debs. Hopefully you'll get those levels down, and be alright.

You can indeed - and anyway, I used to drink like a fish, packed it in (all but damn it) and it doesn't effect how I enjoy myself at all.

I take Felodipine. I used to take Lisinopril, but I was getting bad headaches, so the Doc changed me to Felodipine.
