Side effects for any medication of this type vary from person to person.

As a rule, it is unsafe to increase or decrease medication suddenly, any alteration should be with the advice and consent of your GP, who will advise an appropriate timescale for the changes in dose.
Lots more indigestion!

Seriously though. Why do you want to come off them?
Agree with andy on seeing the doctor first.
I've not had any I can think of save for getting the symptoms back I was taking them for in the first place (well, the acid reflux rather than another ulcer).

It's not renown for side effects like SSRI's you were asking about the other day (citalopram).

I swapped mine for Omeprazole which were far better.

Medication affects people differently though so he (if it's your friend again) should check with his GP if he is having symptoms.
