odd one this, was asked myself by my nephew and i really dont know. in short, i am not the person i was 6 months ago, i.e. every cell in my body has been replaced with a new one. How is it i can remember things from when i was six years old (im now 34) can anyone shed some light? - thanks

Surely that is the case for everybody, it is the time you started school and most people remeber that.

The same way you know when you look in the mirror that it is still you. Our bodies are multicellular and each cell has various properties and functions to keep the organism going as a whole.
You need to look up lots of cellular and limbic system facts to answer your questions, but they reckon on average the cells in our body have a 10-15 year life span.

Oh yeah, your'e right, found this artical explaining. I thought all human cells were replaced all the time like blood cells, but was wrong - learn somthing new every day i guess

are you sure its not like living in a little village. One brain cell moves in and within hours knows everything about all the other brain cells, past and present. over time, braincells come and go and the gossip still lingers.
might explain whay we cant always recall correctly as it changes, like chinese whispers.
