Aveeno is very good...I started using it when I developed exema-it contains colloidal oatmeal which helps dry skin conditions....Also try Fenjal body lotion......it is amazing on your hands also.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is the best I have ever used. I would never get anything else now. You only need a little and it lasts forever so the price is actually very good.

Diprobase is also good for very dry skin or exzema. However it can be a bit greasy. Neutrogena is absorbed quickly and leaves hands beautifully soft.
Renew Lotion by Melaleuca is very good & concentrated too.
My husband grew up on a farm in Wales and says the cream you are talking about is ICI Udsil. Says it is brilliant for dry skin, as well as cow's udders!

Thanks to all, going to give Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream a go.XXX
Neutrogena concentrated . My son in law swears by it .
This is the one someone mentioned above, originally for cows. I use it all the time and find it is wonderful in all weathers.
Have a look at the website - the tub is good value.http://www.udderlysmooth.co.uk/
Bex - ask your chemist for "SnowFire" - it's the best thing in the world for healing hacks. People who work with cement swear by it :)
Legend and annemollie are quite right about the udder cream. I've used it myself and it's excellent stuff. My manager at work always has a pot available to dip into. We work with all sorts of yukky stuff and it works for me when the skin around my nails gets dry and I get painful splits by my thumb nails. I've used it on my lips too (no smutty innuendos thanks Legend!) and it's been excellent.
