Broken veins around nostrils..

Hi. For few years now I've suffered from having broken veins around my nostrils. Does anyone why they would appear and the best way to avoid any further increase? Also anyone recommend anything that could disguise them. I use foundation and concealer, but by a few hours the covering seems to wear off and I can see them again. They seem to be getting more prominant to
me. I'm quite conscious of it and tend to hide my face with my hands if I'm talking to anyone these days.

Broken facial capillaries are most common in this particular area. It can be caused by smoking, drinking or too much sun exposure, among other things.

You can have them removed by laser, which lasts a few years, or you can take Arnica, which also speeds up the recovery of bruising as it helps to disperse dried blood.

NoMercy; thanks for your reply. I've never smoked... I very rarely drink as most time I end up driving and don't drink at home.... I'm very careful in the sun as I'm aware of the 'scares' surrounding this so make sure sunblock used or wear a hat... so I know these are not the causes. I will look into the laser treatment, though a bit apprehensive about this. I'll also read up on Arnica, hopefully this might be a solution. Thank you again for your quick reply.

I think there is also a cream based on vitamin K for treating broken veins. As for concealer, if it is really bothering you, you could try getting a specialist cover-up that is designed for people with port wine stains etc. much longer-wearing.

Electrolysis works on fine thread veins very well. Find a decent qualified therapist. either Steiner, CIDESCO, BABTAC or CIBTAC and they will remove them.

A friend of mine had hers done, I think it's not too painful (worth the pain for the gain) and a lot cheaper than laser.

this has happened to me since I turned 45. Before that, my skin was relatively blemish-free. I now use a pale concealer stick every day, just in that area, on and to the sides of my nose, under make-up or even on its own with no make up.
