Bug bite

I've been bitten on the lower outside leg by some kind of bug or insect. It's raised and red and almost one inch across.

I have an event to go to where I'm wearing a dress which will not cover the bite, and it's too late now to change the outfit and I can't wear tights to cover it!

So I'm wondering is there anything I can apply or do to make it heal and disappear quicker? i haven't scratched or broken the skin

Not sure what you can put on it, but maybe a bit of fake tan will tone it down a bit
double check in the chemist but think there is a hydrocostisone cream or ibuprofen gel that you use to take down the swelling and the redness.
Piriton tablets will get rid of it quite quickly.
With a sterile needle, burst the blister and then express the fluid. Leave the flap intact and put on gauze impregnated with antibiotic...tulle gras.....and then bandage firmly.

Remember to wash your hands with soap and water first.
If the bug was a `Tick` you could be in deep trouble, so go to your GP a.s.a.p especially it the rash has spread.
Grow your leg hairs to cover it up... hopefully you've dark hair... should be able to grow a good thatch before the event ;-)

Thanks for any sensible answers above!

There is no blister or rash though, just a solid bump. I (and others) were plagued with these last year and hope this isn't the start of it this year!
