Thanks to all who have answered my previous post, but to further my querie concerning tea-bags. How long does one need to rest a tea-bag on the eye, and some say warm, and others cold?

you need a hot (but not boiling!) compress.
Take the tea bag, put it in a cup and pour boiling water onto it.
Add milk or sugar as desired and drink the fluid.

Take ibuprofen..400mgms and ring Dr in the morning to pick up a prescription for antibiotics.
There are medications for stys.

In Aus we use Golden Eye Ointment which is very effective. I would bet it works better than a tea bag hot or cold.
Carlton, I suffer from styes quite a lot, I tell you what works for me...forget teabags...do you have a gold ring, such as a flatish wedding ring...rub that over the stye a few time, after a day mine have always cleared up.I say flat because you dont want to go rubbing with something with ridges and scratch yourself further!
