Baby night time medication
11 Answers
Is there anything I can give my 10 month old daughter, to help her sleep tonight?
She has conjuctivitis and a respiratory infection, she's on Ethromyoped (sp?) and eye drops, but her temp keeps going up to 40c. Calpol isn't doing much and the nights are the worst.
A friend recomended Medised, but Boots refused to sell it to me, saying its now only for children over 6 years - Fair enough, but is there an alternative?

I did this with my baby when her fever kept spiking at 40c. I gave them every three hours. Bear in mind that ibuprofen needs to be given with or just after food or a milk feed.

Try sitting with her in a steamy bathrom before bed and a warm bath might help her settle. If it is safe to do so, use some eseentila oils in a burner in the bedroom, lavender and euculyptus are good, the steamy ness helps the chest and lavender has a sedative effect. Only do this though, if she can't get to it.
Boots used to do a plug in steamer type thing with pads that was very good. Maybe worth a look tomorrow or online.
All the best

well Ive just put baby CRX down for night with a dose of medised, bought a few weeks back and suitable then for babies. Annoying isnt it.
The thing amonty suggested is a vapouriser (they used to be heated by candle when i was a kid). I find it pretty good when little ones (and me too) have colds. http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet /ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=5071&c allingViewName=&langId=-1&catalogId=11051
Id also agree with the alternating of the calpol and paracetamol and ibuprofen, though i find that the ibuprofen brings temps down further and faster.
I hope shes feeling much better very soon poor thing

Thanks everyone! She's now on paracetamol and ibuprofen (kids versions obviously!) We've got a vapour fan but she's not blocked up, the respiratory infection isn't actually affecting her breathing, thats just what the doc called it. Its her temp thats the main problem - and all the screaming that goes with it!!
Anyway fingers crossed for a more peaceful night tonight, even if she does refuse to sleep on her own again! x
Red - hope te medised does the trick for your LO and that she's getting better. It sounds like great stuff! (Medised not CP!)
