went to optomestrists yesterday and my eyesight has got really bad in a very short time. from -4.25 to -5.00 and -4.00 to -4.50 in about 6 months. Has anybody experienced this before. I have to see a eye specialist next week and am a bit worried
That is not much of a change in prescription and it seems off for them to refer you for this reason. Did they mention anything else. Was your vision normal? Were they concerned about anything in particular?
I asked them if I was going to blind when I'm older as the rate I;m going it seems like it :-) She said I have nothing to worry about but because of the huge change they just had to check me out. I think I'm gonna start eye exercises to strengthen them
Can I be so rude to ask your age and what you do for a living. Also did you go for an exam because your vision was worse or was this picked up at your examination. An increase in myopia of 0.75 diopters is not that much but this can often be overcorrected in people who spend a lot of the day doing close work tasks such as vdu users or students at exam times. This overcorrection is often because your eyes are having to work at looking at close objects and find it difficult to fully relax for distance vision. Are you being referred to the hospital for this or a colleague of the optician who did the exam.
I am 30 (31 tomorrow) :-) and I do work with computers alot so that is alot to do with it, but have worked here years and never had such a severe change. I;ll be someone a optomestrist. I usually get mine checked once a year and there is a difference of .25 at the most so this is why they need to find out why the huge change
