I don't have a cold, but when I go cycling in the cold weather my nose starts running - why does this happen?

the cold air thins out your mucus membranes making them more watery than normal. thats what my dad says anyway. dont know if its true.
Its a well known fact that if your nose runs and your feet smell........................you were built up side down !

WOW - I Actually KNOW this answer....and I am impressed!! (OK I have NO LIFE!!!) :-)

Your body is humidifying the air you breathe to your core (inner) temperature..... hence your nose runs!! Notice how when you breathe in the cold air, the cold doesn't get very far....the nose at work!! 

There you go...My first aid certificate was useful afterall!!! :-)
