Why have I suddenly started having frequent nightmares? I have probably only ever had two/three in my entire life yet have had several since undergoing an operation at the beginning of September from which I am recovering well.  Could this be anything to do with having really horrible, upsetting nightmares ..... from last three in two of them I was being threatened with being killed and last night I dreamt I ran over an old boss who was driving a moped!

Many traumatic/emotional events you experience will remain subconciouscly in your mind for some time afterwards causing a trigger reaction (nightmares/depression etc).  After my father died I had some really weird freaky nightmares and still do occasionally.  I have even dreamt that I am at my mothers funeral - and she is still alive.
