I have just discovered that my Mum (age 59) may have Osteoporosis of her spine. She is having a Bone Density test in a couple of days to find out the results. I was just wondering if anybody has any advice for me if it is the worst. Treatment, care etc... Just thoughts would be good. Thanks.

I am so sorry to hear that your mum is unwell. I'm sorry that I can't really help much, as I don't know all that much about her condition. My grandmother was a sufferer, but I was too young to really understand what was happening at the time.
I think this link may be able to help you further: http://www.nof.org/
Good luck, and I hope everything works out well for you.

my mum has this as well and I asked my dpctor about it. He said I needn't worry until I approach menopause and then we could review. My mum receieved medicatin and I would love to say she is now fine but she isn't. The medication helped but the fact is she is very fragile, things that would normally briuise us will break her bones. She is bit shorter as her vertebrae have sort of impacted and quite a lot lighter. I think you need to do a bit of research and also perhaps attend at the docs with her if you are very worried. Another idea might be a cordless phone/mobile so that if she does fall and hurt herself, she can call you/an ambulance.
