denture fixatives

Which is the best denture fixative,they all say all day security, but i haven\'t found one yet.
can anyone help please.

we're all far toooooo young to wear dentures but my grandad swears by Polygrip Ultra; he says the less you apply the longer it lasts ;o)

I think all denture fixtures will be pretty much the same but the way in which they are applied can make a difference. I find that the denture should be rinsed clean and then dried with a tissue before the fixative is applied. If the denture is still wet when the fixative is applied then the fixative can remain in the mouth when the denture is eventually removed. This is like having a dead slug in your mouth. If the denture is dry when the fixative is applied then the fixative will come out with the denture.
I use Fixadent myself, a small blob about 3/16" across on each side of the denture is fine for me.

I agree with Wak,
I use Fixadent and have always found it excellent,but don't bother with ANY denture fixative that has "extra" etc in the title,you pay more for it and it's no better than the standard one.

Yes there is an solution. get yourself a tube of FIXODENT this is strong enough to hold two bricks together ! I have very badly receeding gums..on the lower there is NO gum left ! Yet I can still wear dentures ! I can eat almost anything. Thing is I usually always carry a tube of this stuff around with me, or have it handy in the car ! It can slowly come loose if you have a big meal or have a lot of hot drinks etc. I have sometimes tried to remove my denture with great difficulty after using FIXODENT, but I am not complaining..it is wonderful ! To remove the dentures if you find they are stuck in too tight..fill a glass or cup with very warm water..hold this hot water in your mouth for about a minute..then you will be able to remove your dentures okay. I find it very effective. Forget all those other brands they are just RUBBISH. Fixodent is the BEST. A.K
