Sore knee after and during exercise
8 Answers
Ok.. I have had this for many many months now.. and am just grinning and bearing it.... as its not too bad.. but any idea why I am experiencing this..
Started after a ski holiday 3 years ago and its my left knee... its kind of an ache.. and the occasional twinge of pain right behind the knee cap... It doesnt feel muscular... or bone - and I wondered if it could be my cartilage or a lack of it??? (PS I'm 35 female and otherwise fit and well, right weight for height etc)
Since I have now been doing aerobics and steps classes - the pain is more frequent.. wearing high heels also seems to hurt the knee more than flat shoes - I take Glucosamine daily as recommended by a colleague who lifts weights - which does seem to help. I have been told i need to strengthen the muscles above the knee too with exercise.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be..... and whether anything can be done?

As it can take over 3 months before you notice as its a slow rebuilding process

Classic cartilage wear and damage symptoms.
If you want your knees to last, the main thing is to stop doing further damage. Quit the steps aerobics immediately and stop wearing high heels. Persisting on worn cartilages results in further permanent damage. You may find that your knee will never be perfect again. Ageing is a bitch but you have to get used to it. Much worse is to come.
I am not convinced by glucosomine. It did nothing for my knee problems. I had better reuslts by eating lots of geletine.
