if someone sleeps with their boss, then i would assume that the boss would get fired or reprimanded at least as he is a superior. however, what reprimand if any would the woman in this case get especially if she claimed sexual harassment after the affair was over. surely she should get a slap on the wrist at least. also the woman was offered promotion at the time even though it was unbiased believe it or not, would she still get the promo afterwards if the boss was fired? maybe i should be posting elsewhere so excuse the duplication!

In my sister's case, it was the boss who got moved to another department, then went back to make another go of things with his wife. There was no promotion involved, but she left for another job shortly afterwards. I can only surmise that any job perks and bonuses she was getting via him (apart from between the sheets, that is) disappeared after he left.

the scenario was that the male boss was having big probs with his relationship at home and suppose sought solace in this girl at work for 6 wks. promo had already been discussed and was on the cards anyway and had also already been authorised by mega boss for it to happen down the line. after affair was discovered by boss's partner, they decided to sort things out and actually got married. the girl was told it was over, after 2weeks of threatening to go to hr about sexual harrassment. she finally did. the outcome was that the boss lost his job for gross misconduct ie, not being worthy to work there, reputation etc and not declaring an affair when promo was discussed and now she still remains. they didnt get him on anything re sexual harrassment just for fact that he was a senior and she was an office junior. it was a big risk for her to take by going and opening her mouth first i suppose. so in effect she cried sour grapes, wanted to seek revenge and got it. she still has her job but dont know if she would have been reprimanded too or given the promonow as the boss signed away all rights to take things further legally and got a small pay off. wonder if this girl will be seen as trouble in future and they will look for other ways to get rid of her eventually or as she apparently was so good at her job, would she get this promo, surely she cant be seen to be totally miss perfect esp. if they can see she had an affair. apparently she used some emails as evidence for sexual harrassment which she took out of context, which didnt count in the end anyway .it was weird because apparently as soon as she received it months before they even slept together, she copied it straight to herself on her own private email address. maybe she aimed to get promo, it was a set up ,though i know they did discuss their future together esp. as there was an age difference. so basically why is she still there and how will she be viewed now? it makes my blood boil!
Depends on the circumstances... I had a very casual relationship for a month or two with one of the managers I work with (not a direct boss) about just over a year ago. It came to a natural end and there's no ill will on either side. He's a nice fella, we had fun, he started dating someone not long after we finished and they're still together. I'm pleased for him as he seems really happy. Neither of us was ever interested in actually dating the other. We're still friends now (obviously not as close) and still enjoy a chat and laugh if we're out in the same social group but the inital attraciton is gone. I think in these circumstances it'd be awful if either side got reprimanded, I wouldn't see the sense.
I think if it was a direct boss there's always be some hint of coercion about it, as if the woman was scared not to comply in case she'd lose her job. I know it's not always that way in real life, but that would be the starting point for any company (or court) considering it. Same if the boss was female and the employee male. Or the employeee female too, I suppose.

Can you be sure there wan't any genuine harassment here?
I can understand the boss being shown the door, depending on the organisation, for breach of trust. If he was daft enough to write down compromising material, which the girlie was sensible enough to retain and use, even more reason not to employ him.
From the firm's viewpoint, if you've got a girlie who's clever enough to do this, she might be a good asset. It all depends on viewpoints.

But what's your stake in it?
If no coercion was used and it was a mutual relationship why should anyone be moved or fired?

Are you not allowed to fall in love, have a fling or just a bit of casual sex nowadays? What happens to equality?
