Tourettes

My daughter was diagnosed with having a tic about a year ago, but I think it had developed into tourettes as she sniffs uncontrollably every few minutes and makes involuntary noises, can anyone advise? Obviously I will take her to the doctors, just wanted people views and some background information, thanks in advance.
