Sqad it happened to me just before Xmas I fell against a heavy door and bumped my head hard, two days later I woke up with a black eye. Was checked out at A&E but was OK.
Sue-bozzy, if you're getting headaches (are they severe?) go back to the gp, that was one thing they told me to do, also if the swelling got worse.

OK....cocinelle and sue....we do not know whether or not you or sue hit the back of her head or the front.
If it was the back, in this case, then how can one get a "black eye",,,bruising of the eye as opposed to a "blood shot eye " which are quite different animals.
Now, if it was a blow to the front of the face...black eye, immediately, headaches and numbness.....what comes commonly to mind?...a punch to the face.
cocinelle did you "black eye" or "bloodshot eye" come on directly after the incident?

4 years ago I fell and bashed the back of my head, was unconscious for a short time, next morning a very black eye. Went to A & E, Xray showed hairline skull fracture . Pain and black eye almost gone after a week, but severe dizziness occurred, and it transpired that there was damage to the inner ear which caused a fluid imbalance. This was relieved by the "Brandt Daroff" exercise, and I am fine, the dizziness recurs occasionally. Best you have an Xray. Hope all will be well.
