i have another half stone before i get to my ideal weight, but i just love bread have to have my toast at breakfast and maybe a sandwich at lunch, i have switched from white to brown and now to granary, but the last bit of weight to come off is becoming difficult and i put it down to the bread I eat, can anyone tell me which bread would be best calorie wise, because i dont think i could give it up all together.
To lose weight you should stop eating bread altogther so my daughters doctor told her, and yes it works, she has lost quite a lot since giving up bread, try eating ryvitas instead, obviously you will have to forfit having your morning toast, but whats more important, losing weight or eating toast, thats what you have got to decide. Good luck.
fruitsalad, I find that the 'thin sliced' bread does not fill you up and therefore you eat more. Eat wholemeal. Hovis do a small loaf that is approx 65calories a slice. Alternatively, try wholemeal pitta bread. Melba toast could be a good alternative to ryvita..
Can I put my spanner in the works.
I always thought it was not the bread that was the problem but what you put on it, or have I got it completely wrong?
it can be, depending what you put on it. Bread is a carbohydrate which some like to limit as part of a diet; although it is better to say on a balanced diet, but just eat a proportional amount of all food types. A diet won't work long term unless you change your eating habits, and you aren't making that likely by eating significantly differently whilst trying to lose weight, that you intent to afterwards.
i doubt it's just the bread. you have to look at your overall diet.
we have a sandwich most lunch times (always wholemeal, seeded or granary) and often have something on toast for tea (beans, cheese and tomato, scrambled egg) yet my husband has managed to lose 2 and a half stone since last january.
