Hi I haven't been on here for a while so I hope someone can help.
I have a friend who has suffered with stomach discomfort which on frequent visits to doctors and the hospital have decided it is not IBS Chrons or pancreatic conditions. They removed her gall bladder but the pain and discomfort is still occuring, and now has a lump she can feel under her ribs the size of a small satsuma. On going back yesterday to have another scan they have told her the lump she can feel is her kidney?
Now my understanding of the anatomy is that your kidneys are at the rear of your body, is it physically possible for your kidneys to move like that? I am very concerned for her as she has been poorly for such a long time. Can anyone with medical experience give me some advise? I ghave also had my gall bladder removed and I am now completely ok so I know what she is experiencing is not normal. many thanks in advance. x
the kidney (apparently) she is feeling on her right side (near the front) not at the back where the kidneys should be which is why I thought it was unusual. She has put up with this discomfort for over a year and the doctors are dragging there feet as to finding out what is wrong. She thought when they said that they would remove her gall bladder that it wasn't the problem but rather than make a big incision to have a look at her insides properly they removed it by keyhole and therefore resulting in her still suffering. She is nauseous and very gassy which is embarrassing as has to keep leaving the room at work. Her dad died of pancreatic cancer and thought it might be this but they haven't looked into it further. Thanks for your help.
She had an MRI scan before her gall bladder was removed and they said they couldn't even see her gall bladder, I will ask her if they have checked her pancreas and get back to you. I appreciate the help you have given so far. many thanks
